About Us
Ordained by our Heavenly Father and guided by the hand of His Son, Jesus Christ, a chain of events combined in the 19th Century to lead to the founding of Trough Hill Primitive Baptist Church.
First, there was the birth of its benefactor, Easter Nelson in 1838. It is said she donated the land near her home for the building of the church. Our first Pastor, Thornton Hill, his wife Emily, and Easter were members of Battle Run Primitive Baptist Church in Ben Venue near Flint Hill. It took a little while after emancipation but In 1883, under the guidance of her Brother-In-Law, Elder Thornton Hill, and her "Sister in Christ" the church held its first church service. Many others followed them across the river to this new church on a hill in Crest Hill on what was then known as Rock Ford Road.
The church and its congregation look forward to many blessed years in the future, and are committed to singing God's praises, calling sinners out of darkness, and building up the Kingdom of God on Earth.
